Graphic Design Program
MU’s Graphic Design Program is a distinct area within the School of Visual Studies. A series of five sequential, required courses (ARTGD_VS 2410, 2420, 3410, 4400, 4410) prepare students to move on to develop deeper knowledge in specific courses, such as Packaging Design, Corporate Identity, Letterpress Printing, Hand Lettering, and Design History. The Graphic Design program offers both BFA and BA degrees and requires a portfolio review after the Introduction to Typography course (ARTGD_VS 2410)
MU Graphic Design graduates have gone on to award-winning careers in media, entertainment and advertising, in both agency and in-house settings. Our graduates are employed in great jobs from coast to coast in all areas of design. From MCA records in Los Angeles to Cosmopolitan Magazine in NYC, from Hallmark cards to Nestle Purina they are making their mark in the world of design. Our alums have won Grammys, Emmys, Addys, have been featured on TheDieline, the Today Show and won many other awards for design. They are entrepreneurs starting businesses small and large, from design studios to hand lettering businesses, freelance design to international companies selling all over the globe.

The Graphic Design Program in the School of Visual Studies recommends that all students in the program purchase a laptop computer. All the design faculty use Apple Computers and our labs are equipped with Apple Computers. While the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite runs on both Macs and PCs, we recommend that students get Mac laptops.
Below are the two we recommend purchasing through the University Bookstore. Students who purchase through the bookstore can get tech support through Tiger Tech (https://www.themizzoustore.com/t-tigertech.aspx) with AppleCare+ for Mac.
