Art Camp for Teens
smART Moves! art camp is presented by MU's School of Visual Studies in Columbia, Missouri and its community outreach program, Art on the Move. Camp dates are June 10-14, 2024 with classes from 8:45 a.m.–4 p.m.
The program is designed to give high-school aged teens (14-19 y/o) a real-life college experience through a fun and safe summer camp. Students will learn college level skills over a week-long intensive which can be taken as a day camp or overnight camp experience. Meal plans are included for both day campers and overnight campers who will stay in the dorms. Overnight campers arrive on the Sunday before camp (June 9, 2024) and check out on the Saturday after camp (June 15, 2024) All campers are invited to attend a closing reception in the Fine Arts Building with friends and family on Saturday, June 15, 12-2 p.m.

Morning Session:
9 a.m.-noon
Monoprinting and Multiples
Taught by Lisa Franko
Students will learn about printmaking tools and processes and engage with the principles of design while creating various prints.

Making Comics (This class is full)
Taught by Nick Potter
Students will be introduced to storytelling and illustration strategies and create a collaborative comic book.

Afternoon Session: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Experimental Design Lab
Taught by Igor Arume
Students will learn about applied graphic design principles using analog processes and risography/copier production methods.

Clay Constructs
Taught by Andrew Long
Students will create hand-built objects using basic ceramics tools and processes.
