Emily Smith earned her BA in Heritage Studies from Randolph College. A former archaeologist and natural history collection manager, Smith’s work utilizes found and reclaimed objects, foraged fibers and dyes, and traditional craft techniques such as weaving, basketry, and paper making. Elements of seasonality, stratigraphy, and folklore recur in her explorations of the human, ecological, and geologic scales of temporality. Smith is a first year MFA candidate in Fibers.
