Sophia DeJesus-Sabella earned her BFA with Departmental Honors in Fibers from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2019. Her multimedia works are grounded in the creation of handwoven cloth and interrogate classism, misogyny, and presumed utility of bodies and objects. She has been an artist in residence at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, ACRE, Byrdcliffe, and Lakkos Project. She has received grants from Foundation for Contemporary Arts, New England Foundation for the Arts, Assets for Artists, and Northwest Connecticut Arts Council. Sophia is a first year MFA candidate in Fibers.
