What is Art On The Move?

Art on the Move (AOM) is Mizzou's School of Visual Studies (SVS) community outreach program. AOM gives real-life experiences to SVS students and alumni, providing hands-on professional career-building opportunities by returning them to their Missouri hometowns or home regions to share their art with others.  MU's School of Visual Studies' students, alumni, and faculty are some of the best and brightest rising stars in the visual arts field and play an instrumental part in recruiting the next generation of SVS students.

Art in Storefronts - in partnership with MU Extension

Art in Storefronts creates walk up exhibitions of visual artworks and installations created by students or alumni of the School of Visual Studies in storefronts across Missouri. This partnership allows students and alumni to exhibit their work, connect to their communities, and help revitalize storefronts in their hometowns.

Formerly Art in Empty Storefronts, this program was designed to reinvigorate commercial corridors that had been hard hit by the economic downturn, research shows placing art in empty storefronts has worked well as a community and economic driver for many places around the country. Similar programs have been succesful through Springboard for the Arts and the NEA.

The program launched in October, 2020 in Lee's Summit, MO.
