Muditha (she/her) is a PhD student in Visual Studies at Mizzou. Her research interests focus on documentaries, particularly film and photography that engage with war and post-war trauma, memory and victimhood. Her work is informed by critical theory and explores how visual representations shape, mediate and contest the understandings of violence, remembrance and lived experience. Her research considers documentaries as sites of memory and testimony. She is also interested in archival practices and the ways archives preserve, construct and negotiate individual and collective memories of conflicts. Her MA Thesis focuses on the representation of Sri Lankan civil war through documentary filmmaking and photographic practice.
