Brian MacNeel

Brian MacNeel is a filmmaker whose work explores topics such as masculinity, isolation, and alienation in suburban America. After several years working in the film industry in Atlanta, Georgia, Brian decided to pursue his MFA in Filmmaking at the University of Ohio.

Brian has made six short films, including “Dakota” and “Weekend in Brazil,” which have gone on to play at major domestic and international film festivals.

Brian is the writer/director of “Richard is Offline,” a feature film shot in the summer of 2026 in Columbia, Missouri. The film uses a lo-fi science fiction aesthetic to delve into themes of paranoia, group-think, and the ways media alters us both psychologically and physically.

He teaches courses all across the film production program, including directing, post-production, cinematography, and narrative filmmaking.
