Summer Exhibition: Nixed Index
EXHIBITION DATES: MAY 13-AUGUST 22, 2019
RECEPTION: THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2019 4:30-6:30PM
Please join George Caleb Bingham Gallery as we open our summer exhibition: Nixed Index.
Nixed Index is an exhibition showcasing the work of 13 emerging artists whose work visually engages with themes of reproduction, text, and semiotics. Their work recontextualizes familiar symbols and imagery to provide unexpected insights into the visual and cultural language we confront on a daily basis. The participating artists work in a wide range of mediums to engage in a diverse take on what text and reproduction may mean to us today. Viewers will be allowed to traverse the Bingham Gallery, engaging in a varied and open-ended conversation generated by artwork arriving at Mizzou from all over the country.
Nixed Index opens Monday, May 13th at George Caleb Bingham Gallery, and runs through August 22. Closing reception and curatorial discussion on Thursday, August 22 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Join us for music, drinks, conversation, and most importantly, art. All events are free and open to the public.
This exhibition was curated by current graduate students Wilson Minshall and Nathan Halwel with the support of Bingham Gallery and MU Painting.
