The University of Missouri School of Visual Studies proudly announces that Professor Alejandra Salinas has been selected to present at the Some Like it Hot – the 6th Biennial PARSE Conference, hosted by the Artistic Faculty at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, November 12–14, 2025.

The PARSE (Platform for Artistic Research Sweden) conference series is an internationally recognized forum that brings together artists, researchers, and scholars from diverse disciplines to engage in critical dialogue about artistic practices and methodologies. Each biennial event is held in Gothenburg, with the aim of fostering direct encounters across disciplinary fields and cultural contexts to expand and deepen the discourse around artistic research.

This year’s conference, Some Like it Hot, explores the theme of heat in both its literal and metaphorical forms—addressing global ecological crises, socio-political inequalities, and the transformative power of intensity and change. The theme reflects on how “heat” operates as both a symbol of urgency and pleasure, a catalyst for transformation, and a tangible warning of our time’s escalating environmental challenges.

Professor Salinas will present her work on Wednesday, November 13, at 1:30 p.m., contributing to the international dialogue on art’s role in responding to and reframing the complex forces shaping contemporary life.

“Participating in PARSE offers a unique opportunity to engage with artists and researchers from around the world who are pushing the boundaries of creative inquiry,” Salinas said. “It’s a space where experimentation and dialogue come together to reimagine how art can address critical global issues.”

Through plenary sessions, open calls, and experimental presentation formats, PARSE conferences encourage participants to rethink artistic methodologies while engaging in cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary conversations.

Salinas’ participation highlights the School of Visual Studies’ commitment to global artistic exchange and the importance of interdisciplinary research in the arts.
