SVS student does great work for The College of Arts & Science
SVS student, Alana Hayes, has done incredible work for The College of Arts and Science. We asked Alana to tell us a bit about herself and the type of work she has done for A&S.
Alana states,
"Hi! My name is Alana Hayes, and I am a 21-year-old artist from Memphis, TN. I am currently a Senior in the School of Visual Studies and I graduate in December. I am majoring in Film Studies with an emphasis in Production. I also have a triple minor in Black Studies, Digital Storytelling, Theatre, and a multicultural certificate. The best decision that I have made since coming to campus is joining the School of Visual Studies. I originally started in the journalism school, but my heart called me back to film my sophomore year. I have watched myself grow from an insecure freshman with no direction to a confident young woman in film. SVS has taught me to push myself every day to make content, be present with life, and to not be afraid to put myself and my work out there.
During this summer, I had the privilege of serving as a Digital Storytelling Intern at The College of Arts & Science. My primary focus was collaborating with the HR division to craft content that serves a dual purpose: enhancing both recruitment efforts and employee retention. I had the opportunity to produce engaging videos, compelling PowerPoint presentations, and captivating graphics tailored to the department's needs. Through this experience, I've not only honed my skills as an editor and director but also evolved as a proficient graphic designer which has translated to other areas of my professional career. These past few months have provided me with a fulfilling summer, enriched by the valuable connections I've forged during my internship. The unwavering support and motivation from everyone involved were truly heartening; their genuine desire for my success is evident. The College of Arts & Science has become a place that feels like a second home to me!"
