Mizzou School of Visual Studies faculty, Kenzie Wells, showcased an installation at Zipper Fest on September 9th in collaboration with stop-gap projects.

Kenzie states, “The installation of my work at Zipper Fest is titled "Beachcomber's Dream." It is all about speculating the future of non-biodegradable waste and considers the Earth's perseverance a queer victory. Here is the statement on my website that is in-line with this project:

"My mixed-media practice speculates the hopeful and hopeless future of our Earth’s landscape as the climate continues to rise. Found objects such as gates and tires are embedded into rock-like masses, adorned with sparkly trinkets, lost doo-das, and gay secret messages. The future of waste is centered in these sculptural narratives, questioning how non-biodegradable materials will eventually merge with the natural world. My work recognizes the earth’s growth and perseverance despite destructive human activity as a celebratory, queer victory.”
