Professor Alejandra Salinas – Fullmoon Maple and Sound as Art
The Mizzou School of Visual Studies is proud to celebrate the latest creative achievement of Professor Alejandra Salinas, whose interdisciplinary practice continues to resonate on a global scale.
Professor Salinas, a faculty member in painting, recently released a new sound album titled Fullmoon Maple in collaboration with her artistic partner, Aeron Bergman.
Published by the esteemed Japanese label Sweet Dreams Press, the album comprises nine immersive tracks and is presented in a beautifully crafted edition featuring a 56-page bilingual booklet. The accompanying texts include essays by celebrated Japanese sound artist ASUNA, as well as Bergman and Salinas, offering insight into the conceptual framework of the work in both Japanese and English. The album’s artwork was created by Agnes Bergman-Salinas, adding another layer of intimate collaboration to the project.
Known collectively in the sound world as Alejandra & Aeron, the duo has a rich history in the experimental audio scene. They were the founders of Lucky Kitchen, an influential electronic and field recording label recognized internationally during the early 2000s for its poetic, tactile approach to sound publishing.
This latest release underscores Professor Salinas’s commitment to art-making across disciplines and geographies, blending visual practice with deeply conceptual soundwork. Fullmoon Maple is now available across Japan and at select international locations.
