The House Is Still Standing: Danielle Yankle

-
George Caleb Bingham Gallery

Danielle Yakle is a multimedia installation artist whose work often combines soft sculpture and found furniture.  She presents familiar objects in unfamiliar ways to explore the difficulty of fitting within established societal conventions.  Her work focusses on themes of the home, aging, and hybridity.  Danielle currently teaches at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri where she heads the Sculpture and Fiber Art areas.  Her teaching interests center around the ability of art to celebrate and strengthen communities and her liberal arts classes frequently include building public art projects and staging children’s workshops.

This exhibition and lecture is supported by the Eric Sweet Memorial Fund.
