Farëna Saburi is an immigrant artist born in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Her work focuses primarily on women’s issues, immigration, gender, and the relationship of such concepts on the placement and experiences of people. Farëna earned her BFA from Columbia College and is an MFA candidate in Painting & Drawing.

Over seven weeks, MFA candidates of Mizzou’s School of Visual Studies will showcase the culminating work of their graduate degrees. The work spans the disciplines offered by the department: photography, RISO, fibers, painting and drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. Each exhibition will take place in the Bingham Gallery (Fine Arts Building, 505 Hitt Street, Columbia, MO) and host separate receptions and special events. All events are free and open to the public.
