2nd Annual Undergraduate Writing Competition

Literature Emitting Diodes has a new opportunity for undergraduate students of any major at the University of Missouri!

In conjunction with the Undergraduate Juried Showcase, George Caleb Bingham Gallery and LED offer an opportunity to participate in our Undergraduate Juried Writing Competition.

Submitting is simple and secure. Just enter your piece(s) directly into this Google form.

Entries accepted through November 9, 2018.

One work will be chosen for display on a scrolling LED sign outside the George Caleb Bingham Gallery on the MU Campus. The winning writer will also receive a publishing award from There There Now to produce a limited edition print publication.

The Undergraduate Juried Showcase will run from December 3 to January 24.

*OFFICIAL RULES*
--We welcome unpublished poetry and prose submissions of up to 500 words.
--Authors must be undergraduate students at the University of Missouri.
--You may submit up to three unpublished pieces of poetry or prose. Simultaneous submissions are fine providing you withdraw your piece immediately if accepted elsewhere.

--Word counts will be processed in advance of reading. Entries that exceed 500 words will be disqualified and will not be read. The LED display is limited to 500 words.
--Because the winning piece will be displayed in a public venue, the writing must be appropriate for a general audience. No gratuitous violence, sex, hate speech or curse words will be accepted.

--If you are submitting multiple pieces, please submit each piece in a separate field.
--Your formatting will not be retained by the LED display. All standard English letters, numerals and punctuation will display.

Submissions will be reviewed by the jurors from the MU English Graduate Student Association Creative Writing Committee.

In addition to display at the George Caleb Bingham Gallery, the winner will receive a publication award from There There Now, a Columbia-based curatorial and publishing project. There There Now will create a limited edition print publication and launch it with a reading event on December 5th at 5:00 p.m. 150 copies will be split evenly among Partial Press, There There Now, and the winning writer.

Three runners up will also be invited to read their selected submission at the reading on December 5th.
