MU Graphic Design Alum Kearra Johnson hatched the idea of a set of playing cards honoring African American icons as an undergrad for a class project. After graduation, an MU faculty member saw the design on Kearra’s website Studio Lo and wanted to purchase multiple sets as gifts to her graduate students. Kearra scrambled to finish the set and delivery the order to a former professor. She saw the potential and had 500 sets printed in collaboration with Made In KC, a company in Kansas City that sells locally designed products, For more info, visit the links below.
